# AdventureLog

Trips you host. AdventureLog is GPL-3.0 — TripIt without the hosted itinerary seat.

**Replaces:** TripIt

**Tier:** Easy

## Problem

TripIt is a hosted itinerary inbox. You wanted places, trips, and a map on a box you run. AdventureLog is GPL-3.0 (seanmorley15/AdventureLog; GitHub license field is Other because the LICENSE file is a GPL-3.0 text; last push 24 Oct 2026). This is not TripIt's every Gmail-forward parser, points tracker, or Pro SKU.

## Stack

- [AdventureLog](https://adventurelog.app) — GPL-3.0 travel tracker and trip planner — the published TripIt path

## Estimated SaaS cost saved

| You stop paying | Typical / year | Self-host instead |
|---|---:|---|
| TripIt / hosted itinerary (household) | $1,200 | AdventureLog + a database |

**About $1,200 / year** on a small team, before you count lock-in.

## Deploy on Railway

Placeholder: AdventureLog (backend plus frontend) plus a database as the project docs require. Bind HTTP to 0.0.0.0:$PORT. No one-click template in this repo yet — Start on Railway.

## AGENT_PROMPT

```
Replace TripIt with AdventureLog (https://adventurelog.app).
- Official docs. Persist the database. Create one trip and one place. Do not claim Gmail-forward parsing or airline-points SKUs.
- Write AGENT_PROMPT.md.
```

## FAQ

### Will it parse my booking emails?

Not as a TripIt-shaped inbox. You add trips. The Gmail-forward parser stays behind.

### Is this a calendar?

No. This page is a trip log.

### Are these free?

AdventureLog's LICENSE is GPL-3.0 (GitHub license field is Other). You pay hosting. Template users never pay c17.
