Wallabag / Karakeep / Readeck
Read-it-later you host. Wallabag is MIT; Karakeep is AGPL-3.0; Readeck is AGPL-3.0 — Pocket, Instapaper, and Readwise without the article in someone else's building.
The problem
Pocket shut down. Instapaper is a hosted later-queue. Readwise is highlights and a daily review you rent. You wanted saved pages, an archive, and optional highlights on a box you run. Wallabag is MIT (classic read-it-later). Karakeep is AGPL-3.0 (bookmarks, notes, images, AI tags — the Readwise-shaped box). Readeck is AGPL-3.0 on Codeberg if you want that small Go app. Linkwarden is the Raindrop-shaped bookmark archive on /replace/raindrop.

Agent setup prompt
Replace Pocket, Instapaper, or Readwise with Wallabag (classic later-queue), Karakeep (highlights/bookmarks), or Readeck. - Persist the database and archives. Bind HTTP. Import an export if the vendor still gives you one (Pocket shut down — treat it as a cutover). - Confirm one saved article. Write AGENT_PROMPT.md. Raindrop stays on /stacks/linkwarden-bookmarks.
Also as markdown: /stacks/wallabag-read.md
FAQ
- Wallabag, Karakeep, or Readeck?
- Wallabag if you want the classic Pocket queue. Karakeep if you want bookmarks plus highlights (the Readwise shape). Readeck if you want a smaller AGPL app. Pick one.
- Why not Linkwarden?
- Linkwarden is bookmarks and snapshots (/replace/raindrop). Pocket is read-it-later. This page is that job.
